Dr. Barry Scott Brown graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. He completed a one-year internship at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia. He then went to East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, to complete his Residency in Internal Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident in his third year. After Residency, he began his career in Low Moor, Virginia.
In addition to his Medical Practice, he serves as Medical Director for Agape Hospice in Staunton, Virginia. He has served as a preceptor for medical students since the first graduating class of VCOM.
Dr. Brown also is passionate about medical missions where he has served in Kenya, Panama, Nicaragua, and Trinidad.
In his free time, Dr. Brown enjoys camping, fishing, watching football, and cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers! Spending time with his family is always a top priority. He and his wife, Gwen, have been married for 28 years. They have two children: Caleb, a fourth- year Medical Student at VCOM, and Lindsay, a Kindergarten teacher. She and her husband, Connor, reside in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Dr. Brown is proud to serve his community in rural Virginia for 20 years.
